Ta Ta Holiday

It was like the whole one week went through in a blink of an eye and tomorrow, school will start. Out of 10 days, 2 days was spent for year five night tuition which I changed to daytime, 2 days to train the 'girl-who-socked-the-boy-in-the-eye' for next week's storytelling competition (hope that she will win), 2 days for sewing the clothes for her (and it's still unfinished *gulp*), 1 day spent with my siblings and sister in law in JB, 1 day for Yus', my friend from school wedding along with lots of catching up with one of my best buddies Eena, 1 day visiting my friend, Ujai for her second child birth in Kulai with Yan and Qis and 1 day for doing the 1000 pieces jigsaw puzzle that I bought in a whim.

Wow, I really filled up my holiday.

Other than that, I managed to glue myself in front of the TV watching Oprah and on my colleague's recommendation I started watching 'Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader'. It was fun, since the game format was testing if the adult could answer questions from 1st grade to fifth grade subject and seemed like all the contestants used up all their cheats in the early round. Of course, the American syllabus is way up front than Malaysian and I couldn't help but sit back and say that I only learnt some of those lessons in secondary school when they already did in elementary school. And the question on the Dewey System? Heck I only learnt them in Resource Management class in the institute.

Well, here was the episode aired for this week in Star World. I can't help but grin when the guy kept on saying 'the' when clearly 'pledge of allegiance' did not have 'the' in it.

Now... if Malaysia have this version here, I'm sure the contestants would have a jolly time answering questions for 'kajian tempatan' and 'kemahiran hidup' since we only have those in the syllabus very recently, hehehe.

Ode to 2007

It's the eve of the new year.

Farewell to the past and welcome the future.

I have to say that 2007 brought a lot of experience to me. My change of profession to being a teacher for a subject that I am always fond of since my younger years. A passion? Maybe. An interest? Definitely, even though sometimes I still make grammatical errors. Back to being a student and who would have guessed that my time in Besut went by so swiftly.

The year when new friends were made which led me to my fiance, new opponent were identified, new experience were obtained. Even though I did say once that the 3 months internship dragged on like forever, when it ended, it was almost unreal that I survived. New challenges were found in the form of pupils, smart, cute and most of the time mischievous. I get to understand the true meaning of the phrase "Don't judge a book by it's cover".

The year I managed not to watch TV that much, and depend on the not so good wireless reception at the hostel. The year I learnt that no matter where we go there are always some people who tend to be envious, devious of other people no matter how minuscule the item or subject of their envy. The mirror has 2 faces and it comes as no surprise when people have tons of them.

Life is not a bed of roses. Whatever that I have gone through for this year makes me the person I am. No regrets and wallowing into it would only make me a lesser person. Adapt and improve on whatever we can.

Happy new year everyone!

You leave me.... Breathless

New year.

New profession.

New school.

Yes, I got posted to my hometown. To be precise, at my mom's old school in the 50s and 60s. With a school that lasted so long, of course there must be a tradition or rules to adhere to, wise and experienced teachers to work with and not forgetting the ever mischief/cute/smart kids who are the main occupant of the school to work 'on'.

This year, lots of new teachers are posted to this state, whether they applied it or not. Some of my friends are still recovering from the shock of the school that they are posted to, some are excited - of course, not all of us gets what we asked for.

My holiday is nearing to it's end.

Clock is ticking.

Days are passing by.

It seems that my goal during the holiday was to see how many books that I managed to read daily. Of course, its not those 1000 pages e-books, just the short 350+ pages ones. So far 4 were my highest count but heck, the not so good thing about that was I tend to mix the plot and the characters altogether. What the heck, no one will start marking me based on what I read. But yet again... I still haven't read Dean Koontz's Brother Odd that Dayah gave me for my last birthday, even if that was the book that I had been pestering her since January '07. Save the best for last, hehehe.

Have to say that my most-heard-to songs during the hols was Shayne Ward's If That's Okay With You, Timbaland's Apologize and *drumroll* Backstreet Boys past singles, hahahaha. Yeah, even though I did say previously that their break up songs were kind of spineless (depend on what kind of break up that you gone through that is) but those are good for groveling, muahahaha. Heck, I had gone through my teenage years listening to those songs, it's in me - just like old Feminin's songs for my brother *devilish grin*.

I'm leaving the page with Breathless. The song never cease to raise my temperature - just like Daniel Bedingfield's If You're Not The One. The lyrics are just so... *shivers*. This one is for you sayang.

Happy Diwali

I so love my holiday ^_^

Last night watched Stardust with my bro and sis in law. The movie was great - if you like fantasy and all that. One thing I have to say, the movie was fun. Well maybe because the plot a good and the cast .... and wow! I really liked Michelle Pfeiffer as the witch and Robert DeNiro's character was so interesting, hehe.

While waiting for the movie to start, of course there were some movie preview and one thing for sure - I'm beginning to like the villainess roles in the movies. Michelle Pfeiffer for this one and Nicole Kidman for the upcoming The Golden Compass I was browsing the site and did some test on my daemon and I got this.

Well from the movie, a daemon is a person's companion in the form of animal that can talk, reflects the personality of the person, can change form as the person grows. Kinda like a talking conscience that walks by your side. Interesting eh?

Definitely looking forward to see the movie.

Spring Cleaning

It's spring cleaning day.

Well, for today it was only applied to my own 'happy place'. There were so many books that I've accumulated since secondary school, so my room was strewn with it. When there's books, of course dust will settle in and caused yours truly to sneeze like there was no tomorrow during the cleaning. By noon, my voice was so messed up that I started to sound more like a boy who just reached puberty -_-;

Other than books, there were also my bro's damaged PS joysticks which he conveniently dumped into my already full room. Not forgetting my sister's old college stuff, my old notes, souveniers, gifts, magazines, damaged motherboards, DVDs, VCDs, shoe boxes - I honestly don't know why I still had those @_@

One thing about spring cleaning I found the things that I thought was lost for good. There were my class pictures, some books that I thought was missing, my primary school report card, my primary school student file and loads of other things that I've been searching for ages. Guess I had it coming, huh? *_*

Finished dispensing with all useless and needless stuff, I went cleaning my books. Yeah you got that right, cleaning it with damp cloth. One thing about using mosquito coils at night, it caused staining on the books. Some of the stains were easy to be rid off - on plastic covered books that is but on uncovered book, by golly it took a long time to get it clean. Then the arranging part comes which caused me a headache. I know I lost a lot of my Christopher Pike's, a few of Judith Mcnaught's, a James Patterson's which I guess were kind of a blessing in disguise because I run out of place for it. Though I still need to spare a space for the last Harry Potter book that will be released in July -_-;

Now it's no longer an eyesore... that much ^_^;

The cleaning ended at about 4 and boy I was beat. I need tissues, ACCHOOO!!!

Ho-hum weekend

I did not go out that much this weekend - unlike the previous one where I moved around a lot. Had to stay home for the tiling guy to finish his work at home. Mak and Abah was busy with weddings and meetings so someone had to stay home for the guy to do his job. Good thing for the Star Wars marathon that made me a wee bit ting tong after being fed 6 movies back to back @_@

Managed to go to Irra's place in the morning to pass her some keropok I got for her, went to the bank for my bro to deposit some money and then went back home in record time. The guy reached home for the work an hour after. Good timing, hehehe.

Got Julie Garwood's latest novel - Shadow Dance. Felt like dancing here and there since the much awaited character finally got his break, YEAY!!! It was years ago when I sent an e-mail to Ms Garwood regarding the character, asking when will be his turn to be in the spotlight. I was more than thrilled when she replied that his turn was yet to come, uwahhhh!!! Few novels later, hurrah!! It's out!! Those who read her work might be familiar with her crime/suspense series which circulated mostly on the Buchanans. The character in question was Noah Clayborne - the agent who's always in every novel, butting in every crime scene. By the time I was done reading, my neck was stiff and my eyes were doing some tricks on me, huhuhu.

By 6.30pm Mak and Abah reached home from their meeting, cooked for dinner and watched POTC 1 on channel 5. Guess I was already unconcious after the movie ended and so here I am, wide awake early in the morning - guess so lah.

2 more weeks to go. Time does fly *_*

Rush Rush...

After much waiting and delaying, finally I spent my part of the holiday spending my time at the cinema doing a back-to-back movie marathon - for Shrek 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean - at World's End. Had already planned for the marathon since before the holiday started with my bro. Good thing my brother and I are students so we both qualified for the RM5 ticket price, ngehehehe. But one thing that I have to say - the cinema ad at GSC Leisure Mall was so darn long that I guess I've seen nearly all the upcoming movie preview. Pirates of the Caribbean was supposed to start at 11.20am. The movie started - in all honesty - at 11.50am. Gile lama. the whole cinema was half-groaning watching the ad back to back. I mean imagine watching 3 advertisement of the same item back to back and that was not the end of it, uwahhhh.

Done yapping on the advertisement, now let's get back to the movies. I definitely like POTC 3 better than the 2nd one. The reason - the did not recycle the jokes from the previous episode that much, and, *spoiler alert* I have to say, the part when Will Turner became captain *not going to say more on that* had to do all I could not to say "kakkoi!!!!" aloud. Well for those who plans to watch it and haven't yet, a tip from me try to wait when the credit rolls in the end. When all the credit was done there's something at the end of it. Of course la, most were already up and leaving the cinema house when the credit starts to roll in. It was only a short part but enough to tell what happened to Will & Elizabeth.

Shrek 3 - another good movie, enough to make me laugh my soles off. Girl power oozes off from the movie when the princesses and a queen was fighting for Far Far Away. Their adaptation on high school was funny with the nerd playing chess, jocks was jousting, cheer leading group and all that. Overall, I like both movies.

After Leisure Mall, off we went to Holiday Plaza to meet another pirate. I was aiming for Nino's Letters from Iwojima, hoping that they might have Japanese movies on the rack. What greeted me on sight was that ALL the vcd store was closed - well not exactly closed. Their door happened to be closed but as I approached one of the guys, saying I want to buy DVD, they opened the shop, enough for me to get in and closed the shop. I have never felt so sweaty palmed and nervous before just buying DVD. Of course la I had to ask the guy.

"Semua tutup kedai. Ada rush ke?"
"Ya, lor. Suppose 1 sampai 5 petang."

Wallawei *_*

It was 5.30pm and they were still on guard. My bro was asking for 24 season 5 and they took a long time to get that particular series to the shop. My imagination was running amok thinking what would happen if suddenly the shop was rushed - with me and my bro in it *shivers*. I got my Iwojima and I was more than glad to get out of the shop and went straight back home.

What a way to end the day @_@

Oh, and Iwojima is certainly great. True to the review which dubbed it better than it's counterpart - Flag of Our Fathers, the movie seems more humane except from the part when the soldiers opted to kill themselves with the hand grenade, erk.
